چکیده

The pulp and paper industry generates a significant volume of solid waste during its operations. In order to mitigate the environmental impact caused by this industry, one residues was applied in eco-friendly composites. Therefore, research aims use green liquor dregs as partial replacement for lime coating mortars. Hydrated replaced percentages 10%, 15%, 20%, 30%, manufactured mortar specimens were tested terms their flowability, air content, specific gravity fresh state. hardened state, physical chemical characterization carried out determine influence introduction on properties different types mortar. Mechanical testing specimens’ compressive, flexural, adhesive strengths out, scanning electron microscopy performed evaluate microstructural features cement general, with showed high degree similarity conventional all studied aspects, including 30% group. obtained SEM images indicated that presence did not change formational mechanism C-S-H crystals, maintaining mechanical material even after accelerated aging procedure performed, reaching similar levels tensile bond when compared neat Furthermore, reached approximately 0.9 MPa mortar, allowing be used external applications.

Use of olive stone as an additive in cement lime mortar to improve thermal insulation

The process of olive oil extraction produces olive stone, a residue which cause considerable problems of disposal. This paper proposes and analyzes an original use of olive stone in order to improve the heat insulation performances of cement lime mortar and reduce its final density. To this purpose, the paper illustrates a set of small-scale tests, which were conducted on specimens of cement li...

Utilization of waste glass as sand replacement in cement mortar

In this study, alkali silica reaction (ASR) expansion and strength characteristics of mortar containing waste glasses are analyzed in terms of waste glass content and glass color. Three different colors of waste glasses (white, green and brown) are replaced with sand at ratios of 10%, 30% and 100% by weight. The mixtures used in this study did not show a considerable ASR expansion. All batches ...

Mechanical Performance of Asphalt Mortar Containing Hydrated Lime and EAFSS at Low and High Temperatures

In this paper, the possibility of improving the global response of asphalt materials for pavement applications through the use of hydrated lime and Electric Arc-Furnace Steel Slag (EAFSS) was investigated. For this purpose, a set of asphalt mortars was prepared by mixing two different asphalt binders with fine granite aggregate together with hydrated lime or EAFSS at three different percentages...

Properties of Cement Mortar by Use of Hot-Melt Polyamides as Substitute for Fine Aggregate

This paper presents an experimental study on use of hot-melt polyamide (HMP) to prepare mortar specimens with improved crack healing and engineering properties. The role of HMP in the crack repairing of cement mortar subjected to several rounds of heat treatment was investigated. Compatibility between HMP and hydraulic cement was investigated through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transfor...
